My Zoo

This page is dedicated to all my critters, there are a quite a few of them.
Some of them were willing to pose for the camera, others were not so accommodating.

Bear

Bear is a pure black (she does not have an under coat), domestic short hair cat. She has golden colored eyes, and quite a pretty girl. She can be very grumpy kitty, and usually slaps the other animals when they get too close.

Billy Bob

Billy Bob is a Sable Ferret. He loves to play, especially with Bilbo (who does not appreciate it). Some time he gets so excited we have to make him stop, so he calms down, He sounds like he he is having an asthsma attack He is a large ferret, weighing over 6lbs. (Very heavy for a ferret) We got him after Our Fizzy died, He is not interested in doing tricks, unless it's playing tricks on the dogs.

Bilbo

Bilbo is an Australian Cattle dog Chow mix. He has white medium length fur with orange spots, even a few freckles on his snout. We got him from the Denver Dumb Friends League, as our first dog. We went looking for an older, quiet (non-barking) dog, that was willing to play frisbee. Well just so you know, that does not describe this dog. He was about a year old when we got him, and all he wants to do is chase balls and rocks. He barks, and oh yea, frisbees equal chew toys.

Da Fishes

The current school of Da Fishes is made up of two gold fish that where originally one inch long, and purchased for the sole purpose of feeding Oscar. He never ate them, and so they are now over 6 inches long.

Elise

Elise is a cinnamon sable ferret. She is currently the oldest ferret we have in our business (that's what you call a group of ferrets). She is about 5-6 years old now, and is considered a senior aged ferret. Unfortunately she is also suffering from insulinoma (her body cannot produce enough insulin), and has to be medicated. She thinks this is ok, and has come to think of the medicine as a twice daily treat.

Fiona

Fiona is a smoke colored (black fur w/ a white under coat), domestic short hair, kitty. We got her from the Denver Dumb Friends League, she was a stray, and was recovering from having kittens. She is a very playful kitty, and loves to "hug" your hand (with her claws) when you scratch her belly.

Floyd

Floyd is a grey domestic short hair, who has put on a little weight. Face it he likes to eat. He is usually a very lovey cat, and spends a lot of time hang in out with "The Momma". Some times he chases the other cats, i'm not entirely sure why, because he is the biggest scaredy cat I have ever seen in my life, you can make him run and hide just by looking at him, intently.

Jake

Jake is a 5-6 year old sable ferret. He is quite a fun loving guy, and plays with the younger ferrets often. Unfortunately he also has his moments when he is not so hyper, I think that is due to being a little older. He is a climber. He will climb the out side of his cage (almost 5 feet tall), just to see what's up on top, which is usually nothing. Jake is also taking medicine for insulinoma.

Lily

Lilly is also a cinnamon sable ferret. She is our youngest ferret. Her hobbies include trying to keep up with Billy and Jake in their exploits, as well as inventing a few of her own. One of her favorite hangouts in in the heater vents, I think she learned that from Elise before she retired.

Tiger

Tiger is a golden red colored tabby cat. He is quite a good size and I think he could clearly be the boss cat around the house if he chose to, but he has allowed that distinction to fall to Bear. We believe that tiger was housed in a cabinet, and emotionally abused when he was younger, which is why we think he is so timid.

Oscar

Oscar start out as a very small (less than 2 inches in diameter), cichlid. Not thinking I put him in the with the other smaller fish when he was young. That quickly changed when we had to move him to a much larger tank because he was chasing and attacking the other fish. He now lives in a 125 gallon aquarium, with two feeder fish that he never ate.

Pepper

Pepper is an australian shepard keesh hound mix, and is our second dog. We got her about a year after we got Bilbo. She is a very sweet gentle dog, that likes to be scratched on her belly, and to give 'doggie-kisses'. One of her favorite games is to chase "the dot", She loves light beams, laser pointers, reflections from a watch face, whatever, if it is made of light she will chase it.
